MEET ANDREW KNACK
Andrew Knack is dedicated to public service, and to standing up for everyday Edmontonians like you. As an elected councillor, he’s worked for more than a decade to build a city we can be proud of, that reflects what’s most important to us, our friends and our families. Now he’s ready to lead our city through its next phase of growth as one of Canada’s greatest places to grow a family and grow old.
Andrew was first elected to Edmonton City Council in 2013, representing the west end in Wards 1 and Nakota Isga. Since then, he’s developed a reputation for listening deeply, engaging honestly, and standing up for the everyday needs of residents (Also, for wearing not boring eyeglasses, and eagerly leaning into Facebook comment discussions).

A PROUD EDMONTONIAN
Andrew was born in Edmonton and raised in Spruce Grove. He grew up in a tight-knit community, where his dad ran his own business for decades; his mom instilled a deep respect for the values of service and empathy. And his sister –now a proud Edmonton public librarian– kept challenging him to think differently.
After earning his Bachelor of Commerce from the U of A in 2006, Andrew worked in retail management at West Edmonton Mall.
Running retail sales in one of the world’s biggest malls offered a grassroots education in public engagement and public service. His perspectives on the city’s challenges deepened, and he embraced an increasingly inclusive and progressive vision for Edmonton’s future. He became a passionate advocate for community leagues, serving on both the Meadowlark and Jasper Park Community Leagues.
Today, Andrew lives in a condo in Jasper Park with his wife, Jamie, and is a proud uncle to several nieces and nephews.
A DECADE OF SERVICE
Throughout his time on Council, Andrew led many key initiatives, including NextGen, Seniors, Public Engagement, and Transportation Innovation. He has also served as Council representative on the Accessibility Advisory Committee, Edmonton Transit System Advisory Board, and the Edmonton Public Library Board of Trustees.
He is particularly proud of championing the Lewis Farms Recreation Centre and Library—an overdue investment for West Edmonton families—and pushing for more accessible transit for seniors and youth. As the lead on the Seniors Initiative for nearly a decade, Andrew has been one of the most consistent and effective voices for older adults in our city.
Andrew also led the City's push for more meaningful public engagement, because he believes the best decisions come when residents are truly heard. Andrew’s renowned - and sometimes surprising - comfort discussing all manner of people’s personal opinions on his Facebook page is a testament to that commitment.
Fiscally, Andrew has helped deliver real taxpayer savings while pushing for a more transparent and values-based approach to budgeting. And he’s been a relentless champion for the West LRT, ensuring neighbourhoods outside the Henday are connected to jobs, schools, services, and opportunity.
