Accountable Leadership and Transparent Governance
My commitment to you: Accountable Leadership and Transparent Governance for Edmonton
City Council shouldn’t answer to political parties, big donors, or special interests… but to you, the people of Edmonton who entrusted us with your vote.
This election is about ALL OF US, it’s about Edmonton, and it’s about the kind of city we want to build together.
I believe in accountable leadership and transparent governance and that starts with disclosure of donations.
In 2010, 2013, 2017, and 2021, I disclosed all donations prior to the election as I believe you have a right to know who is funding my campaign.
I’ll be doing it again this election.
I would like to challenge all candidates to do the same.
City Hall needs to be a place of open, unbiased decision-making, to deliver the services your family needs — fire halls, police stations, transit, libraries, and housing — not to serve political parties or big donors. Edmontonians deserve to know who is supporting candidates before they head to the ballot box.
As Mayor, I pledge to prioritize independent, non-partisan leadership that serves Edmontonians above all else.
My Plan for Putting Edmontonians First: Transparency and Accountability
Throughout my time on Council I have regularly found ways to connect with Edmontonians, including consistent and regular doorknocking. I've been knocking on doors 12 months a year for 12 years — that's 144 months straight of talking to Edmontonians at their door
As Mayor, I am committed to looking for creative ways to continue to connect directly with everyday Edmontonians.
During the first 90 days of the next term I will personally meet with each member of council, no matter their political ideology or party affiliation, to discuss their priorities to create a Strategic Plan for the next four years so that we can move forward together as a team, and with purpose.
To uphold this principle, I will introduce a Lobbyist Registry and a Lobbyist Bylaw, ensuring the public knows who is seeking to influence policy and decision-making. I will also disclose all conflicts of interest publicly. Furthermore, I will release my donor list ahead of the election — a step I encourage my fellow candidates to follow.
It is important that municipal candidates are willing to be transparent about who is donating to their campaigns so voters can see before the election if wealthy developers and corporations are influencing the election. I am pleased to hear Andrew Knack is again showing he is open and transparent and hope all other candidates are willing to follow his leadership.

Rebuilding Trust by Re-engaging Our Community
Edmontonians have shared their frustrations — feeling unheard and disconnected from City Hall. To address this, I will establish a Guiding Coalition on Public Engagement dedicated to reforming our public engagement processes. I will commit to having regular City wide Town Halls to hear directly from Edmontonians. I will commit to having regular City-wide Town Halls to hear directly from Edmontonians — just like the one I’m holding this week. Our city needs to reconnect with its residents, listen actively, and make sure everyone’s voice is included in shaping Edmonton’s future.
My Plan for Accountable and Transparent Leadership
Leading with Transparency, Accountability and Independence
Pre-Election Donations Disclosure: I will disclose all donations before October 20 and urge other candidates to do the same, promoting transparency and integrity in our electoral process.
Independent Leadership: I am, and always will run as an independent candidate, working with council members from all backgrounds to develop a cohesive, strategic vision for Edmonton — not driven by partisan politics or donor interests but by community needs.
Lobbyist Registry & Conflicts of Interest: I will introduce a lobbyist registry to ensure open access to decision-makers, and I will publicly disclose all conflicts of interest to maintain the integrity of our city government.
Engaging with Edmontonians
City-Wide Townhalls: I commit to hosting regular, accessible Townhalls post-election, fostering open dialogue between City Hall and everyday Edmontonians.
Reforming Engagement Processes: Recognizing recent declines in public trust, I will reinstate the Guiding Coalition on Public Engagement, including community members and experts, to reform city engagement practices, restore trust, and ensure inclusivity — even amid economic challenges.
Working Together
Strategic Planning: Within the first 90 days, I will meet individually with each councillor to identify their priorities, then work with the city’s leadership to create a shared, transparent four-year plan rooted in the community’s best interests.
Empowering Councillors: I will reintroduce initiatives allowing councillors to lead key files, giving them a crucial voice in implementing priorities and fostering accountability.
A City That Works for You
Edmonton’s future depends on leadership committed to transparency, independence, and community voice. Together, we can create a city where decisions are made openly, and everyone feels heard. I am dedicated to working for Edmontonians — not special interests or political interests. I invite all residents to join me in building a stronger Edmonton.
