Valley Line West LRT Public Engagement Sessions

The Valley Line West is a 14 km light-rail extension from 102 Street downtown to Lewis Farms Transit Centre. As you may know, the City of Edmonton received funding last fall through the Federal Public Transit Infrastructure Fund to review and refine preliminary design work from 2013.  This work is important in order for the City to update changes that have occurred since the original design was completed and to determine the most appropriate project delivery method to develop a business case when additional funding is granted. I’ve talked with many of you at the doors about the importance of efficient traffic flow for those that drive and those that use transit. Because of this feedback, work will now include grade assessments of the 149 Street/Stony Plain Road intersection and 178 Street/87 Avenue intersection. Other high-volume traffic locations (ex: Stony Plain Road/142 Street) will also be considered for alternate crossing measures but the upcoming engagement sessions are focused on the two locations referenced above. The City wants to hear from residents who live, work and commute through these areas. Currently, two engagement sessions are planned:
